I have not tried it, but according to Apple some features that the kext uses are only available in Leopard, and were later ported back to Tiger in v10.4.11.

You don't have to worry about firmware, it is included within the driver. You just have to accept the Intel firmware license agreement before you download/use the driver.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

Thanks so much. I would like to try it, and I do have KextHelper. Perhaps I'll just give it a go. The thing is I read something about firmware being involved. Don't I have to do something regarding this firmware in addition to just installing the kext? I just figured there must be more to it than just the kext because of the firmware. Again, consider me a noob.

It's amazing to me that people are willing to put so much into such things. If I don't get a definite response on the Tiger compatibility issue I'll probably just give it a go and post the results.

Thank you.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

I don't know if this driver works on Tiger. But to install it download KextHelper. Open it, select 2200.kext, type in your passwort and klick install.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

I discovered this project while trying to understand how to get my 2200BG working in my Presario M2108US. I am running OS X 10.4.6 though, and I see nothing on these pages about what version of OS X are supported. I am also at a loss about how to install the drivers.

Will this work on 10.4.6? If so, how can I install them? Consider me a noob.

I have considered trying to run Jaguar, but the information on the OSX86 site, including the forums, is scattered and incomplete so I really don't even know if I should try it. Everything except my wireless card works and I am currently using a USB D-Link WiFi adapter. I really want the internal.

I would be willing to contribute, but as it stands there is very little information here I can use. Lots of info on the development but almost no practical info for somebody to use. And I have read many pages. I don't even know if I can try the drivers, or how to try them. Hard to contribute under such circumstances.

Any info would help.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

give us an update! pleaaaaaaaaaase :) even if it's bad news!

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

Actually, we don't need an "estimated time of completion", the driver will be realeased when it will be ready. What we need is update to see the project evolutions ...
I just can't wait to see an update showing the progress for 3945 development...

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

What is the estimated time of completion for the 3945 driver. There is no problem installing these drivers directly in /S/L/E. Since it's a 3rd party kext, no OS X update will mess with it. There is no need to install these (or any 3rd party kext which does not overwrite an Apple-supplied driver) in the EFI partition.

2. Chameleon already supports override kexts 100%. The reason some of them fail to load is OS X itself -- most of these kexts depend on other kexts, for example the IOFramework kexts depend on IOPCIFamily, ACPIPlatform and IOGraphics kexts. So you must put all dependencies in /Extra. Even then it's a bit of a gamble as these kexts are loaded too early and might not have some other resources ready yet.

That said, I have not tested loading project:camphor drivers from EFI partition, nor will it be supported because such is not required for its working.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

Yeah, it makes sense that the ones that don't work in this way are trying to override existing kexts (or parts of kexts) in /S/L/E.
However I could have sworn that a few brand new kexts sometimes didn't work, but it could have been my imagination.
I think not knowing how the OS loads kexts or how the bootloader works, it's just seemed like voodoo before (pardon the pun).

I think Chameleon (which I'm running) should have better support for overriding the same named kexts in /S/L/E, but that's a topic for another time and forum.

Re: VoodooWireless is now completed

Hey guys, let's not put pressure on the developer.
